Highlights of Prince of Peace’s History

The District Mission Department purchased the church site in December 1979 for “The Lutheran Mission of Northwest Regina.” Pastor Ron Raedeke was called as the founding Pastor.

1982 – The first worship service was held in March at Henry Janzen School. June was when the congregation chose the name, Prince of Peace Lutheran Church

1983 – A Building Committee began to develop the building plans for the church. A Building Fund was started.

1984 –Construction of a portable chapel began and was situated in the parking lot of Prince of Peace.

1986 –The Labourers for Christ Building Program began.

1987 – May 3 was the day of Ground Breaking at Prince of Peace church site. December 24th was the first service held at Prince of Peace with attendance of 275.

There are many more historical highlights since. We have new programs, finished the outside details, Cornerstone Dedication, installation of Stained Glass, the installation of new Pastors, etc.

Throughout the history of the congregation many groups have met numerous times and sponsored many projects and activities. Some of the various groups and activities have included the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, College and Career Group, the Great Achievers, various Choirs, various Bible Study classes and learning events, Youth groups, Stephens Ministry, Christian Preschool, Whist Group, Polka Praise, Partners in Prayer, Outreach projects and events, and so many more.

Though there have been many changes, there has been one constant element, the foundation of God. We thank you, Lord, for our Pastors, leaders, and church families and for the opportunity to gather together to hear the Good News of your love for us, freely given through Christ your Son.
